02 Oct Episode 2: Don’t start with self-care
Does the idea of self-care make you feel icky or entitled or indulgent? Me too.
And yet I have needed to learn to care for myself. Self-care isn’t a nice optional extra, it is essential. But while taking a bubbly bath or booking a massage is lovely, it isn’t the place to start. If you want to learn to care for yourself and to do it consistently, you have to begin with curiosity.

The book I refer to in this episode is:
Emotional Agility by Susan David. It is a fantastic insightful read, highly recommended.

Posted at 23:39h, 19 OctoberYou sound so natural, like a friend in the room with me, Thankyou for all that you are sharing, love it. By the way I may need to investigate the food delivered to my door, I really feel I SHOULD cook and provide for my family but resent it so.

Posted at 10:47h, 07 NovemberVery pertinent in terms of where I’m at right now. After quite a full on year grieving the loss of my mum, I’ve repeatedly got myself into all sorts of emotional difficulty and constantly felt an added pressure to be self caring which, as you say, just felt like something else I had to do. And it feels like a herculean task.
So thinking about it this way feels a lot more doable and tangible.
Keep going, I think you’re brilliant! X
